After its emergence in the mid 1990s’ Giclée fast became the best high quality limited edition print used by professional artists. Giclée prints are digitally printed onto archival papers or canvas using specially pigmented inks. The word ‘giclée‘ means ‘spurt’ or ‘squirt’ in French, however the spray is more like mist, each droplet being no more than the size of a red blood cell.
Modern giclée prints are expected to show no sign of fading after 100 years, provided the prints are kept in suitable conditions; for example, out of direct sunlight.
This edition is limited to 50 prints per image, each signed and numbered by the artist. The quality of each print is such that it is difficult not to mistake the print for an original, especially when the original is a mixed media.
**** mixed media here refers to gouache, watercolour, indian ink and coffee on paper.
